The DEP has partnered with the Army Corps of Engineers, NJDOT and academic and environmental groups to study the benefits of newer method of marsh restoration that could provide better shore protection for shore communities while developing new placement solutions for clean dredge materials. The project, which is currently ongoing near Stone Harbor, will also build nesting habitat for the state-endangered black skimmer, a tern-like bird.
